The King of Morocco, Mohamed VI, has congratulated Felipe VI on his birthday, recalling the friendship that unites the two royal houses and them personally and advocating to intensify the cooperation of «two friendly peoples» such as the Moroccan and Spanish.
The Alawite monarch wished «happiness» and a «long life» to the king of Spain, who turns 55 this Monday, with a message in which he showed his «pride» for «the strong bonds of friendship» that unite them personally and also between their respective families, according to the MAP agency. His parents, Juan Carlos I and Hassan II, maintained a close relationship for years.
Mohamed VI has underlined his «firm determination» to work together with Felipe VI to «strengthen» relations and «raise bilateral cooperation to the level of the aspirations of two friendly peoples», precisely on the eve of the start of the High Level Meeting to be led by the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez.
Felipe VI referred to this meeting during the recent reception to the diplomatic corps, where he alluded to a «new stage» in the relationship with Morocco. «This appointment, which had not taken place since 2015, is part of the roadmap agreed in April last year and will allow us to deepen our extensive bilateral relations to work together on more solid foundations,» he stressed.
