At least four people have been killed and six others injured in a new massacre in a Barranquilla neighborhood after a gunman on a motorcycle opened fire indiscriminately on a group of people outside a store.
The incident took place on Sunday night in the El Santuario neighborhood, in the south of Barranquilla, a city located in the Colombian Caribbean region. Among the dead there is a Metropolitan Police officer who was on vacation.
According to eyewitnesses, the attack lasted about one minute and about 50 people had to take shelter from the shots. All of them were on the terrace of a local watching a soccer match.
Subsequently it has been known that the other three victims were engaged in ‘cobradiario’, illegal moneylenders, so it is not ruled out that the crime is related to a settling of scores, reports RCN.
The commander of the Barranquilla Police, General Jorge Urquijo, has informed that the local authorities are offering a reward of up to 80 million pesos (about 16,000 euros) in exchange for information leading to the clarification of what happened.
