The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, and the leader of the Democratic majority in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, have expressed their support for the idea that the current president of the country, Joe Biden, should run again in the presidential elections scheduled for 2024 and for which former President Donald Trump has already announced his candidacy.

Both Democratic politicians have thus asserted that Biden should run for re-election after what they have described as two «excellent» years in the White House. Their comments, the first regarding Biden’s possible re-election, were made during an interview with CNN.

Pelosi stressed that Biden, who is 80 years old and already the oldest president in U.S. history, has done «a great job». «I hope he manages to get elected again. He is a person with a great vision for the country and has been involved for a long time, so he knows about many issues and the challenges we face,» she explained.

In addition, he pointed out that he is «an empathetic president» who «connects with people.» «His vision, his knowledge, his strategic way of thinking,» he said, before stressing that «he is a great president».

Schumer, for his part, described his management as «excellent» and said that if he runs again «he will fully support him». Thus, he has recalled old political fights with Trump and has ventured that he will lose in the next election.

«The American people have now become wiser. It has taken time, but it has,» insisted Schumer, who recalled that the population «has understood the danger to democracy» after the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021 by a mob of Trump supporters.
