The presidents of Colombia and Ecuador, Gustavo Petro and Guillermo Lasso, respectively, have expressed their willingness to collaborate to combat crime on the border between the two countries, at the initiative of the Colombian president.
At the end of a national security council, Petro announced on Twitter that he will ask for his counterpart’s support to carry out joint operations «against the mafias that use the border as a drug trafficking route». Colombia is thus advancing in its strategy of collaboration with neighboring countries.
Lasso has responded to him on the same social network, offering him Ecuador’s «active help». «In our country we fight drug trafficking, narco-politics and organized crime vividly. Count on the collaboration you need for that purpose,» said the Ecuadorian president.
