The Peruvian Judiciary has ordered a 36-month ban on Norma Sanchez, ex-wife of Juan Silva, former Minister of Transportation, who has been on the run and unaccounted for since July.

The Special Team of Prosecutors against Corruption is currently investigating Sanchez for the alleged crime of money laundering. Silva, for his part, has been wanted by the authorities since June for the alleged crimes of criminal organization and aggravated collusion.

According to prosecutor Luz Taquiere, Sanchez allegedly acted as a «front man» by receiving money of illicit origin in his bank accounts and then using it to pay off loans, thus avoiding the identification of the origin of the money, its seizure and confiscation, reports RPP.

Silva, for his part, remains a fugitive from justice after it was revealed in early July that the former minister had managed to escape from the country’s authorities for the second time after failing to find him in two houses where he was supposed to be staying.

The former minister has been wanted since June 8 and is reportedly carrying out a strategy of constantly changing his location to avoid being captured and brought to justice.

Silva was summoned to testify before the Prosecutor’s Office on June 4 for the Puente Tarata III case, although he did not show up. His lawyer, however, has assured that they received notification of this procedure.
