The pro-Russian authorities of the Kherson region have announced a ban on crossing to the western edge of the territory as part of the evacuation to the western side in the face of the advance of Ukrainian troops in the area.

«In connection with the completion of evacuation measures from the territory of the right bank of the (river) Dnieper (…) the (pro-Russian) administration of the Kherson region has decided to temporarily stop the movement of civilian vehicles across the Dnieper,» the Russia-friendly regional government said.

Thus, the authorities of the region, recently annexed to Russia, have detailed that the movement of people from the right bank to the left bank will continue to be allowed through the crossing points established since the beginning of the hostilities in the framework of the war, reports TASS.

The Russian-imposed governor, Volodimir Saldo, announced in mid-October the evacuation of civilians from the eastern bank of the Dnieper River to the western side due to the risk of flooding in the eastern part after an alleged Ukrainian attack on a hydroelectric power station in New Kakhovska.

Crimean Governor Sergei Aksenov announced at the end of October that the evacuation operation from the Kherson region had been successfully completed. Saldo, for his part, put the number of people displaced to the western bank of the Dnieper at about 80,000.
