The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has sent his support to the former President of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva ahead of the second round of elections this Sunday, where the candidate of the Workers’ Party (PT) will face the current President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro.

Sánchez has sent his support to the Brazilian presidential candidate through a video — which Lula has thanked and shared on social networks — in which he assures that October 30 is a «decisive» election for the future of a «land united with Spain».

«Brazil is the largest economy in Ibero-America and its voice is essential in the face of the great global challenges that unite us. A voice of openness to the world and not of distrust. A voice of hope and not of fear. Of commitment to equality and not of acceptance of that inequality,» said Sánchez.

The President charged against those who want Brazil to be «isolated and closed in on itself» and reiterated that it is «time to open the door to hope», for which he asked for the vote for Lula since -he continued- his triumph «will be that of all progressives around the world». «Brazil deserves Lula», he concluded.

The last time the two leaders met was on November 19 last year in the framework of Lula da Silva’s tour of different European countries where he maintained contacts and participated in an event organized by the European Socialists, and in France.
