Indonesian President Joko Widodo condemned on Monday the attack in Burma against a convoy of diplomats and members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) who were in the country carrying out a humanitarian aid delivery operation.
Widodo has thus indicated that there is a »need to put an end to the violence» as soon as possible in the country despite the fact that the National Unity Government, loyal to the former »de facto leader», Aung San Suu Kyi, has said it is not aware of the attack perpetrated on Sunday.
»What I want to stress is that this attack does not affect the resolve of Indonesia and ASEAN in trying to end the violence. Stop using force. Citizens will become victims and no one is going to set himself up as a winner under these conditions,» he said.
