Police in the U.S. city of Chesapeake, in the state of Virginia, have announced a shooting at a large warehouse in which multiple dead and wounded have been counted, local authorities have detailed.

Around 22.20 hours (local time) Chesapeake Police officers have been notified that a shooting was taking place in a warehouse of the Walmart company. After entering the store they discovered several people dead and wounded, although it has not transcended so far a precise number of deaths, CNN has reported.

The latest report states that one person had entered the store to shoot at people and that he was among the dead. Meanwhile, no police officer is said to have fired during the response.

Chesapeake authorities have asked neighbors to stay away from the store during the investigation. «Our rescuers are well trained and prepared to respond; please give them space to do so,» the city’s official account has said in a message on its Twitter account.
