Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Friday slammed his US counterpart, Joe Biden, for his statements about «liberating Iran» and again described the United States as «the Great Satan», as part of the mobilizations in the country on the occasion of the 1979 takeover of the US Embassy in the capital, Tehran.

«The president of the United States stammered a few words in a moment of distraction claiming that he seeks the liberation of Iran. Mr. President, Iran was liberated 43 years ago from captivity and will never again be your cash cow,» Raisi said, adding that «today, the symbol of arrogance is the ruling caste in the United States.»

Biden said Thursday during a speech in the state of California that the United States will «liberate» Iran. «Don’t worry, we’re going to liberate Iran. They’re going to liberate themselves very soon,» he said, in an apparent reference to anti-government protests following the September death of a woman arrested in Tehran for allegedly wearing the veil incorrectly.

In response, Raisi has said that «arrogance seeks to destroy many nations and peoples of the world and endangers their material and spiritual interests to achieve its interests,» while extolling the seizure of the Embassy in the United States. «Without it, the fight against arrogance would be incomplete,» he has argued, as reported by the Iranian Mehr news agency.

Likewise, the Iranian leader stressed that the new Iranian generations have «the same positions» towards the United States as those expressed during the Islamic Revolution, while stressing that the country «will not be intimidated by sanctions and threats», which «will not harm the path of the Iranian nation towards progress».

«Do they really think we will be stopped by threats and sanctions?» he has asked. «They are trying to slow down the pace of the Iranian nation’s movement, but it is only a dream. Our men and women will not allow their malicious dreams to come true. They wanted to isolate Iran, but they have failed,» Raisi has pointed out.

On Friday, nationwide demonstrations were held as part of the National Day of Struggle against Global Arrogance, which coincides with the 43rd anniversary of the seizure of the US Embassy in the midst of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

The seizure of the Embassy was led by a group of students who held the 52 employees of the legation hostage for 444 days to denounce Washington’s support for the Shah’s regime and its interference in the country’s affairs. The two countries broke off diplomatic relations and have not resumed since.

Tensions between Washington and Tehran have increased since the U.S. withdrawal in 2018 from the 2015 nuclear deal and rebounded in January 2020 after the U.S. Army killed the head of the Revolutionary Guards Quds Force, Qasem Soleimani, in a bombing in Iraq.
