The U.S. House of Representatives committee investigating the assault on the Capitol that took place on January 6, 2021 is focusing on testimony from U.S. Secret Service agents and has recently subpoenaed dozens of agents and senior officials to testify.

The members of this commission have questioned this week the former head of security of former Vice President Mike Pence, Tim Giebels, as well as John Gutsmiedl, former Secret Service agent, as revealed to CNN television network sources close to the matter.

Thus, the commission has expressed its desire to continue investigating in this way, in an attempt to establish to what extent the Secret Service was aware of the threat that existed before the assault, especially for the then vice president.

In addition, the current Secret Service spokesman, Anthony Guglielmi, has provided the commission with details regarding the agency’s response to the comments and statements made by Cassidy Hutchinson, advisor to the former president of the country, Donald Trump.

The evidence presented so far shows that Pence and his family were very close to the mob that stormed the Capitol that day shouting «hang Mike Pence» after Trump himself accused him of «lacking the courage to do what needed to be done» in an attempt to stop the process of ratifying the votes in the framework of the presidential election.

During his court hearing on Oct. 13, Congressman Adam Schiff, who sits on the committee, noted that he received alerts about online threats against Pence before the assault took place. They referred to the vice president as a «dead man.»

The committee’s recent interest in Guglielmi’s testimony, on the other hand, is aimed at finding answers about how the Secret Service reacted to comments made in public by Hutchinson.
