The Russian Defense Ministry reported Saturday that Russian forces have managed to thwart a Ukrainian attack with at least 16 unmanned aerial vehicles in the city’s port, with no casualties or material damage reported.

Military spokesman General Igor Konashenkov confirmed a total of nine drones and seven unmanned autonomous marine vehicles, most of which were destroyed in an attack that began at 4:30 a.m. local time against several areas of the port.

The Ministry has confirmed minor damage to the Ivan Golubets minesweeper in the city’s port and denounced that the Black Sea Fleet ships targeted in the attack are involved in the operation of the grain corridor for the export of agricultural products from Ukrainian ports, as well as Russian fertilizers to countries in need.

This attack comes less than a month before the expiration of the agreement reached in July to facilitate the export of grain from Ukraine. The agreement, in principle, is automatically extended if Moscow or Kiev has no objections to it.

This is the second drone attack in the last 24 hours after the one that occurred last night, also neutralized, according to the Russian authorities in Crimea.
