U.S. President Joe Biden has linked the recent assault on Paul Pelosi, the husband of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, to «lies» by the Republican Party about alleged fraud in the 2020 election.
Referring to the attack with a hammer suffered by Pelosi in his private home in the city of San Francisco, Biden has stated that it is a «despicable» fact and that in the United States «there is too much» violence, hatred, and virulence, as he has expressed in a campaign event in Pennsylvania.
He has also detailed that the suspect who attacked Pelosi chanted a slogan that was used during the assault on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, federal agents have told the president. «The chant was, ‘Where’s Nancy, where’s Nancy, where’s Nancy, where’s Nancy,'» Biden detailed.
«What makes us think that a party can talk about ‘stolen elections,’ that ‘COVID-19 is a hoax,’ and that ‘this is all a bunch of lies’ without affecting people who may not be so well balanced? What makes us think it won’t corrode the political climate?» the U.S. leader has spat, affirming that «Enough is enough!».
In this regard, Biden has called on «every person of good conscience» to «clearly and unambiguously» oppose violence in politics, regardless of what their politics are. «All of us! All of us together, as Americans,» he added.
«Knowing Paul, Nancy and the families as I know them, they are tough as they look. But we are praying for him. We are optimistic for his full recovery,» the White House tenant has said.
«THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION OF OUR LIFETIME»
As part of his campaign for the mid-term elections, which will take place next November 8, the president of the United States has stressed to the people of Pennsylvania, a key state in the elections, the reasons to vote for the Democratic Party.
«If we keep control of Congress and the government, we can make a 180-degree turn. If we do those two things, we can turn Congress around. Pennsylvania will be a better place and so will America,» Biden predicted.
«That’s why we’re all here. Eleven days left. Eleven days until the most important midterm election of our lifetime. And that’s not hyperbole. It’s going to shape what this country is going to look like for the next decade or more. It’s not a joke,» he remarked.
Therefore, he urged U.S. citizens not to take these elections as a referendum of approval to the government, but as a real choice between «two very different visions of the United States».
Nevertheless, Biden defended his administration by assuring that he is trying to build a «bottom-up» economy that rewards work and «not just» wealth, as well as an economy that «works for everyone, so that the poor have a ladder to climb.
«It’s a fundamental change that is working compared to the trickle-down economics that MAGA (an acronym for former President Donald Trump’s slogan ‘Make America Great Again’) Republicans are offering these days.
