Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrey Kelin has acknowledged that the recent spate of drone attacks on numerous Ukrainian cities is in response to the explosion on the Kerch bridge linking Russia to Crimea, which Moscow accuses Kiev of.
«The Crimean bridge is essential for our infrastructure. The Ukrainians are aware that this is a ‘red line’ that they must not attack. They have severely damaged it and it should come as no surprise that there will be a serious response to that,» Kelin has noted in statements to CNN.
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky has accused the Russian Armed Forces of destroying more than a third of the country’s energy infrastructure in kamikaze drone strikes allegedly supplied by Iran.
Questioned about the use of UAVs, Kelin has assumed that they have been used in the area since 2014, when the first tensions broke out in the Donbas region and Russia annexed Crimea. However, he has denied attacks against civilians.
