Pakistan’s Petroleum Minister Musadik Malik announced Monday that Russia will sell crude oil, refined oil and diesel to his country at a reduced price.

The purchase was negotiated last week by Malik on a trip to Moscow after it became known that India was buying oil from Russia at a discount and in view of the increased demand for hydrocarbons with winter approaching.

«Our visit to Russia has turned out to be more productive than expected. Russia has decided to supply Pakistan with crude oil at discounted prices (…). This oil is used in refineries to produce diesel and fuel,» Malik explained at a press conference in Islamabad, reported by the newspaper ‘Dawn’.

Malik also referred to natural gas and pointed out that Russia intends to build liquefied gas plants. «They have invited Pakistan to open talks for contracts for 2025 and 2026,» he said.

On the other hand, Malik has announced that Iran will donate natural gas to Pakistan worth two million pounds. «They will arrive in our country in the next ten days,» he explained.

Earlier, Pakistani Finance Minister Ishaq Dar approved the import of 450,000 tons of wheat from Russia following a bilateral agreement.
