Venezuela’s Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, with the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of the European Union, Enrique Mora. – GOBIERNO DE VENEZUELA

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, and the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of the European Union, Enrique Mora, met this Monday in Caracas with the aim of advancing a new position in the relations between the two countries.

Gil has indicated that both diplomats have talked »about proposals in different areas of cooperation and a new dynamic of relations between Venezuela and the European Union, under the principle of mutual respect and with a vision of progress».

According to the Bolivarian ministry, Mora presented »proposals for cooperation in different areas, such as the economic and energetic ones, for the benefit of the peoples», reads a press release.

»Venezuela has always ratified its willingness to dialogue, through the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace, with the European Union, in spite of the hostility of some of its member countries, aligned with the interests of the United States and its actions against the nation and the Bolivarian Government», continues the missive.

This meeting takes place after the weekend, during the plenary of the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit, Gil condemned the »criminal» sanctions imposed by Washington and Brussels, demanding their »cessation and eradication».

For Caracas, these punishments hide a »neocolonial practice» and not only »harm» development and impede trade, but also »systematically violate Human Rights».
