Hong Kong Police arrested former opposition MP Albert Ho on Tuesday on suspicion of obstructing justice while on bail since last summer.

The former vice chairman of the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of China’s Democratic Patriotic Movements is being investigated for allegedly interfering with a witness statement, the South China Morning Post reported.

Ho, 71, was granted bail on medical grounds while facing 18 months in prison on a charge against him for attending an illegal meeting in October 2019.

Pursuant to the sentence, police also charged him with allegedly inciting others to subvert state power, according to the national security law imposed by Beijing, as reported by the cited newspaper.

Among the conditions for being granted bail, Ho had to pay more than 83,000 euros, report regularly to the police station, observe a nightly curfew and is prohibited from distributing any speech that could be considered a violation of the national security law.
