Russian President Vladimir Putin has assured that Moscow will respond to the supply of battle tanks to Ukraine by Western powers, which are being «dragged» into a new «modern war» against the Eurasian country.
In his speech during an event in memory of the victims of the battle of Stalingrad, Putin warned that European countries, among which he highlighted Germany, are being led into «a new war with Russia».
«Those who hope to defeat Russia on the battlefield apparently do not understand that a modern war with Russia will be completely different for them,» Putin said, according to TASS news agency.
The Russian leader warned that the answer to the supplies to Ukraine will not be to send tanks to the borders, but that Moscow does have «something to respond with». «The matter will not end with the use of armored vehicles,» he warned.
At this point, the Russian president has taken the opportunity to extol the country’s traditions, passed down from generation to generation like «mother’s milk.» «The generation of achievers who created our country with their labor, sweat and blood, handed it over to us as a legacy,» he concluded.
This is the first occasion when Putin publicly referred to the recent announcement by the United States and European countries on the supply of battle tanks to Ukraine. Kiev has reported that the first batch could reach 140 tanks.
