The Parliament of Moldova has approved on Thursday a new two-month extension of the state of emergency decreed by the beginning of the Russian invasion of neighboring Ukraine almost a year ago.
The extension, applicable from next Saturday, had the endorsement of the Government and was supported by 60 legislators who agree on the need to maintain this exceptional measure to respond to any potential threat and guarantee basic services, reports the Moldpres agency.
Moldova has suffered during this last year the impact of several projectiles derived from the conflict in Ukraine and even blackouts due to damages in the electric system. The country is currently hosting some 85,000 refugees arriving from Ukrainian territory, according to government data.
