Russian officials have accused the United States of trying to erase Russia’s name from the world political map and pitting former Soviet Union republics against each other, while pointing to Washington’s alleged intentions to inflict a «strategic» Russian defeat in Ukraine.
This was stated by the Russian ambassador in Washington, Anatoly Antonov, who detailed that the United States intends to exhaust and wear down Russia, according to TASS news agency.
«They want to drive a wedge between us and the former Soviet republics, threaten them with sanctions, persuade them that all cooperation with us should be terminated and all ties should be severed,» Antonov said, stressing that Russian-American relations are «in a sorry state».
Thus, the Russian ambassador to the United States pointed out that «Russophobes have decided to erase the name of Russia from the political map of the world», assuring that «these are not propaganda slogans or a way of speaking».
«Washington’s political circles do not hide the goal of their war on the Ukrainian territory, and it did not slip my tongue: to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia, to exhaust and wear down our country,» Antonov said in statements picked up by the aforementioned agency.
