The Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina approved on Wednesday, three months after the elections, the cabinet headed by the country’s first head of government, Borjana Kristo, vice-president of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), the main Croat-Bosnian force.

Her cabinet, consisting of nine ministers – with Bosniac, Croat and Serb representation – has received the support within the House of Representatives of 23 of the 42 deputies, reports the portal Balkan Insight.

In addition to HDZ, his government team is made up of ministers from the nationalist Bosnian Serb party Union of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) and from a coalition of eight Bosniomuslim parties of different political orientations, of which the Party of Democratic Action – Bosniomuslim – (SDA) is not part for the first time in 20 years.

Kristo, the first head of government in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was appointed to that position at the end of December 2022 and has set out as one of the main priorities of the new administration a rapprochement of the country to the European Union, as well as to NATO, although this option is not well seen by the Bosnian Serbs, traditionally closer to Russia.
