Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro will have to undergo surgery again upon his return from the United States as a result of abdominal problems he has been carrying since the stabbing he suffered in 2018 and which recently forced his admission to a Florida hospital.
This was announced by Dr. Antonio Luiz Macedo, one of the doctors who has been treating Bolsonaro since that aggression, committed in the middle of the election campaign. For the moment he has not offered more details of the operation and is waiting for the return of the former president of the United States to set a date.
The intervention in the United States is ruled out due to the high prices of the U.S. health system, according to sources close to Bolsonaro, according to the newspaper ‘Folha de Sao Paulo’.
This would be the fifth operation he has undergone after being stabbed. On the 9th and 10th, Bolsonaro was admitted to a hospital in Florida for an intestinal obstruction, reason for which he assured that he would bring forward his return to Brazil, initially set for the end of this month.
However, Bolsonaro remains in U.S. territory and part of his closest circle is in favor of extending his stay while the waters calm down after the coup attacks of his most radical followers to the institutions of the Brazilian State.
The investigations against him for this and other cases, among which are the dissemination of false news and attacks to the voting system before and during the electoral campaign, is part of the judicial scenario ahead of him that could ruin his aspirations to return to the Presidency in 2026.
