Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba on Tuesday criticized those who are in favor of Russian athletes taking part in sports competitions, ironically inviting them to an ice rink destroyed by Russian shelling in the Donetsk region.

«I invite all sports officials who want to allow Russian athletes to participate in international competitions, because, as they say, ‘sport should stay out of politics,’ to visit the Altair ice rink in Druzhkivka, destroyed by Russia’s ‘politically neutral’ shelling,» he wrote on his Twitter account.

Kuleba has accompanied the sarcasm with photographs of the result of those Russian attacks that took place last night in the city of Druzhkivka, which also left Defense Ministry buildings, a bus station, a church and a residential building destroyed.

Despite the fact that Russian clubs and athletes have not been allowed to participate in tournaments in virtually all disciplines, Ukraine has continued to seek further expressions of support for its cause.

Recently, Kuleba himself called FIFA’s decision to refuse to allow Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski to give a «peace speech» before the Qatar 2022 World Cup final «cowardly» and «hypocritical.»

FIFA, as well as its European branch, UEFA, were the first sports bodies to suspend Russian soccer clubs and national teams from all their competitions almost from the first day that President Vladimir Putin announced the invasion of Ukraine on February 28, 2022.
