The Ukrainian Armed Forces said Tuesday that about 500 Russian servicemen were killed or wounded in an artillery attack on December 31 on the village of Chulakivka, located in the Kherson region (south), but Moscow has not commented on what happened.
«The enemy continues to suffer losses. On December 31, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces caused damage to enemy military personnel and equipment in Chulakivka in the Kherson region,» said Ukrainian Army General Staff spokesman Andriy Kovalev.
«Enemy losses amount to about 500 soldiers wounded or killed,» he noted. The figures provided by Kiev cannot be verified. Both Russia and Ukraine have given reports of heavy casualties in the enemy ranks in the framework of the war, unleashed on February 24 on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In this sense, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have affirmed this very Tuesday to have «liquidated» 750 Russian military personnel during the fighting registered in the last day and have raised to more than 108,000 the total number of Russian soldiers killed since the beginning of the invasion.
Russia has not commented on Ukraine’s claims, which come a day after Moscow confirmed the death of more than 60 military personnel in an attack by the Ukrainian Army with a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) against a locality in the area of the Donetsk region (east), controlled by the pro-Russian authorities.
