At least 44 dead in Philippines floods

The death toll from the torrential rains and floods recorded over the past few days IN the Philippines has risen to 44, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council of the Philippines (NDRRMC) confirmed Friday. The agency stressed in its latest report, published on its website, that 44 people have been confirmed dead and 12 injured so far, while another 26 people are still missing.

The NDRRMC stressed that more than 500,000 people have been affected by the floods, which have damaged about 4,500 houses, 129 roads and fourteen bridges in the country and caused loss of power supply in dozens of localities.

On the other hand, about 1,400 people have had to be evacuated by the rescue services because of the floods, while 21 localities have been declared in a state of calamity because of the damages suffered, as specified by the agency.
